For all the new and wonderful music that’s released, yes, there’s a challenge in reaching the audience. The music industry (labels and streaming platforms) has become set on back catalogues. Easy wins! In fact, the music industry stopped serving new artists some time ago. We also need to acknowledge that today’s audience is being trained not to care who wrote/performed the track that’s currently playing. Even so, there is without question an appetite for new music. The challenge for musicians and journalists is to create new systems that better serve our needs: The crumbling of music media is a disaster for the music industry
